The Emporia High basketball teams split with Great Bend Friday.
The Lady Spartans remained undefeated on the season and picked up a 45-39 over Great Bend.
Emporia High trailed 22-19 at halftime and managed to get a 30-29 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Spartans led by as many as nine in the quarter.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey says they made adjustments at halftime defensively.
Rebecca Snyder led Emporia High with 19 points. Addie Kirmer had 12 and Lexsey Dewitt scored a career-high 10. The Lady Spartans are now 6-0 on the season.
The Emporia High boys held an 11-point lead in the second half and saw Great Bend erase it in a 66-65 loss.
The Spartans led 23-17 at halftime and held a 42-36 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Emporia High was outscored 30-23 in the final eight minutes of play.
Coach Lee Baldwin says Great Bend found a way through the Spartans’ 1-3-1 zone.
River Peters led Emporia High with 20 points. Cooper Rech added 17 and Sheldon Stewart scored 10.
The Spartans are now 5-1 on the season.
Both the Emporia High girls and boys are off until Jan. 3 when they host Hayden in their Centennial League opener.
