The Emporia High boys wrestling team won the Emporia Winter Classic Saturday.
Emporia High won the team championship by 1/2 point over Wamego, 210.5-210.
The Spartans had four individual champions.
Xerarch Tungjaroenkul won the 150-pound championship. He remained undefeated on the season after missing last weekend’s tournament in Eudora. He was also named the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler.
Davian White won his championship at 165 pounds.
Lukas Hainline won the 138-pound championship
Jesse Ultreras won his championship at 175 pounds.
The Spartans got runner-up finishes from Christian Trujillo at 157 and Nicholas Marcum at 190. Jackson Goodman at 113 and Isaiah Morales at 126 each finished third in their weight class.
Coach Brook Medrano says the Spartans battled throughout the day.
Up next for the Spartans is a dual at Spring Hill on Tuesday. It’ll be their final competition for the holiday break.
