Emporia Spartan Boxing will be traveling to Nebraska next year for regional competition.
13-year-olds Ryker Gorton and Xavier Cheney represented Spartan Boxing Club at the Kansas Silver Gloves 17 and under competition in Wichita Saturday. Gorton walked through the 90 lbs weight division and now advances to the regional tournament to be held in Nebraska in January.
Cheney lost a decision and will not advance. This was the second bout of Cheney’s career who now holds a record of 1-1. Gorton holds an amateur record of 1-2.
