A Montana man accused of trying to use an SUV as a deadly weapon will be in Lyon County District Court next month for a preliminary hearing.
Jacob Anthony Culver, a resident of Great Falls, had his first official court appearance Monday and will have a preliminary hearing Jan. 18 before Judge Doug Jones.
Lyon County deputies say they were informed about a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 35 near the Burlingame Road exit shortly after 11 pm Wednesday. The reported victim, Stevie Swan, reported a vehicle hitting hers and speeding away, while a deputy noted a vehicle similar to the one that allegedly hit Swan’s vehicle was headed northbound at more than 100 mph. The vehicle was stopped in Coffey County between the Lebo and BETO Junction exits.
Culver is accused of single counts of aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon, as well as speeding, criminal damage, failure to stop at a wreck causing injury or damage and reckless driving

A Montana man stands accused of using an SUV to try running over another person in Lyon County last week.
Jacob Anthony Culver of Great Falls is accused of single counts of aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon, as well as speeding, criminal damage, failure to stop at a wreck causing injury or damage and reckless driving. Culver is accused of damaging Stevie Swan’s vehicle before driving off at speeds above 100 mph on Interstate 35 near the Merchant Street junction. The speed limit there is 75 mph.
Culver’s first court appearance is at 1:15 pm Monday before Lyon County Judge Doug Jones.
