Work is in the early stages to dramatically expand the footprint of the Zoo Education Center.
David Traylor Zoo Director Lisa Keith says the building’s footprint will more than double by the time the current renovations are done next year.
The expansion was made possible by the better than $4 million Oasis capital campaign, which has already led to several notable projects, including a new entrance, new kookaburra exhibit and renovated waterfowl space. Upcoming work includes new exhibits for cereopsis geese and wallabies, as well as a new exhibit for North American river otters by 2024.
