The Lyon County Commission’s action session has been postponed.
Normally, the meeting is at 9 am Thursday, but the weather forecast prompted county officials to delay the meeting to 1 pm Friday. The County Courthouse is closed all day and Lyon County District Court is also closed Thursday.
Regardless of the day and time, county commissioners could approve encumbering funds for two road improvement projects, one on Americus Road from Road 245 to US Highway 56 and another to replace a bridge over Troublesome Creek. Numerous purchase orders could well be canceled because those projects are finished.
In addition, commissioners will consider a joint legislative statement involving Lyon County and the city of Emporia. Lyon County Food and Farm Council representative Teresa Briggs will also give an update on council members and discuss potential board appointments.

That may change with the forecast of a major winter storm for the area. Lyon County says the meeting may shift earlier — or later — than currently scheduled.
