US Senator Jerry Moran is celebrating the passage of two pieces of legislation aimed at increasing care for US veterans.
Moran, the lead Republican on the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, says when the government asks young men and women to volunteer for military service the government essentially makes them a “promise.”
Moran believes the recently passed Cleland-Dole and STRONG Veterans acts will make headway towards that promise. The Cleland-Dole Act, named in part for late Senator and US Army Veteran Bob Dole, will allow for the expansion of VA resources and benefits to military veterans across the nation.
Meanwhile, Moran says the provisions included within the STRONG Act will “help the VA meet the unique healthcare needs of our nation’s heroes and save lives.”
While speaking before the US Senate on behalf of the legislation, Moran stated, “We must make certain that our country is doing all it can to do to honor its promise to care for those who have born the battle and for their survivors.”
