Emporia’s Solid Waste Department is in the midst of its busiest time of the year collecting post-holiday waste.
For those who typically have their trash picked up Mondays, crews will collect their trash Wednesday. Solid Waste Supervisor Keith Senn asks that residents place all garbage in a trash can or poly cart before placing it on the curb.
As for Christmas trees, residents will be able to drop off their trees for pickup at three locations within Emporia including the Guion’s Showcase parking lot, the Lyon County Fairgrounds and Dillons beginning now through Jan. 2. If you are not able to drop your tree off to one of those three locations before that deadline, Senn says you can take your tree to the Lyon County Transfer Station at 3100 W. South Ave. year-round free of charge.
Residents need to remove all ornaments and bags from trees before they drop them off. If you have additional questions or concerns call 620-340-6339.
