Thankfully, there were no injuries after a fire west of Americus on Thursday.
Emporia and Americus firefighters went to Roads 230 and C shortly after 10 am. Early indications are the pickup was pushing a hay bale and rolled over it. Shortly after that, the truck caught fire and it spread to the bale.
The truck and bale were both destroyed, but the fire didn’t spread much further despite southerly wind gusts as high as 30 mph. The truck driver’s name has not been released.

Local and area fire departments battled a combination fire in west Lyon County on Thursday.
Emporia and Americus units were called to the junction of Roads 230 and C shorty after 10 am after a vehicle and hay field reportedly caught fire about three miles west of Americus. Other details are currently pending.
