Once again, the US Drought Monitor’s weekly update map shows little to no change for the KVOE listening area.
Moderate drought remains firmly in place for all of Lyon, Chase and Osage counties, as well as northwest Coffey, southeast Morris and southeast Wabaunsee counties. Most of Coffey County is in severe drought. Greenwood County still ranges from moderate to exceptional drought north to south.
The areawide map has now been stable for the last six weeks. The map released Thursday reflects up to 2 inches of a powdery, dry snow from a week ago. The next week’s forecast is largely dry except for a chance of showers and embedded storms Monday afternoon.
