Emporia Fire finished off a small fire outside a local business early Friday.
Firefighters were dispatched to Thermal Ceramics at 221 Weaver around 6:20 am. Fire Capt. Greg Davis says company employees reported a dumpster was on fire at some point early Friday, and they thought they had the fire put out. However, a passerby noticed moderate smoke and called 911.
The fire was limited to the dumpster and appears to be accidental in nature. No injuries have been reported.
Emporia Fire has responded to Thermal Ceramics on several occasions since July, including a dumpster fire July 30. Firefighters had an entrapment call Dec. 7 after an employee reportedly got stuck in some equipment. Firefighters also dealt with an air compressor malfunction Nov. 29 that bowed out a wall in the compressor room and injured one employee. Small fires in the business were also reported July 15 and Oct. 4.
