An Alabama woman was hospitalized following a single-vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike early Sunday evening.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just after 5:20 pm at KTA mile marker 109 northbound near the Flint Hills cattle pens exit and nearly 20 miles southwest of Emporia. KHP’s crash log says a 2003 Toyota Avalon, driven by 35-year-old Sonsoy Hebel of Boaz, Alabama, was northbound when Hebel lost control of the vehicle and struck a barrier wall.
Hebel suffered no apparent injury, however, a passenger, 36-year-old Jayleen Elies, suffered suspected minor injuries and was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment. Both individuals were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
12:40 pm Sunday: One to Newman following rollover crash west of Emporia
A late morning injury crash sent one person to the hospital Sunday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Roads 190 and D, just over 7 miles west of Emporia, shortly before 11:50 am for a rollover accident. Full details are pending, however, Emporia Fire says one person was taken to Newman Regional Health with undisclosed injuries.
