New year, new website for the city of Emporia.
Everything starts with a new URL — emporiaks.gov versus emporia-kansas.gov. On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Monday, Communications Manager Christine Johnson unveiled several new features that weren’t available with the longstanding website. To start, it’s mobile-friendly.
The new website lets residents view information in different languages and it gives residents with disabilities a chance to customize their experiences. Residents can also report concerns directly to city departments.
In addition, residents can click on the Notify Me button to subscribe to various parts of the website and receive updates as those are announced.
With the launch of the new website Monday, the City Commission’s meetings will move from Facebook Live to the new site. Residents viewing the meeting at other times can click on agenda topics to move to different parts of the meeting, which will include closed captioning.
City commissioners contracted Civic Plus this past July to redesign the website. Residents with questions or concerns about the website can email emporiainfo@emporiaks.gov.
