The Emporia State men defeated Lincoln 57-48 Thursday night.
The Hornets never trailed. Their biggest lead was by 16 in the first half. Lincoln cut the lead to 3 in the 2nd half but Emporia State was able to hold on for the win.
Owen Long led Emporia State in scoring with 14 points. Levelle Zeigler in his first game as a Hornet finished with 11 points.
Emporia State Coach Craig Doty was glad to get the win.
The Emporia State men improve to 11-3 and 5-3 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State women were outscored by Lincoln 85-81.
Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn said this loss was not because they could not score.
Faith Paramore led the offense scoring 18 points, making 4 three-point shots. Tre’Zure Jobe finished with 16 points, Katie Horyna added 13 points and Audrey Beaty scored 11 points. With the loss the Emporia State women are now 9-5 and 4-4 in the MIAA.
Both the women and men host Central Missouri Saturday afternoon with games times at 1:30 for the women and 3:30 for the men.
