After what was an exciting 2022, Interim Director of the Emporia Granada Theatre Stacey Schneider says she is hoping to expand the theater’s offerings in 2023.
Schneider says the theater has done a great job of bringing some of the most notable names in music to Emporia in recent years. However; she says the theater has been lacking somewhat in variety.
Schneider says she is welcoming community input towards that end.
Schneider announced this objective during an interview on KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment Tuesday morning. During that time, she also unveiled the first theater’s first two performances for the 2023 lineup.
To kick off this year’s lineup, the Granada will be welcoming Country Music star Doug Stone to its stage to begin the 2023 series next Friday, Jan. 20. Stone has been active in the country music scene since 1989 and has recorded 10 studio albums, charted more than 20 singles and has had eight number one hits.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra will follow stone’s appearance on Friday, Feb. 3. The orchestra is touted as the “most sought-after big band in the world” that performs a unique blend of jazz that takes you right back to the days of the 1950s.
Doors for both shows will open at 6 pm with the performances beginning at 7. Tickets are available at Emporiagranada.com or the Granada Box Office.
