Osage City and Chase County both picked up wins on the Area Game of the Week Tuesday night.
In the girl’s game, Osage City would capitalize on an explosive first half to hand Chase County their first loss of the regular season 63-28.
The Lady Indians would force 16 first-half turnovers and used multiple 9-0 runs to take a 37-15 halftime lead. Osage City would outscore Chase County 26-13 in the second half to clinch the win.
The Lady Indians had three players finish in double figures led by junior Campbell Stark who led all scorers with 20 points. Sophomore Sadie Shoemaker added 12 points and freshman Emory Speece ended the night with 11.
Head Coach Chris Kirkpatrick says this will be a big confidence boost for his team heading into mid-season play.
Freshman Madelyn Wilson led Chase County with 8 points. Osage City now improves to 6-2 while Chase County falls to 8-1.
In the boy’s game, a late second-half comeback saw the Chase County Bulldogs defeat Osage City 57-55.
Osage City would lead the game through the first three quarters outscoring the Bulldogs 42-40 heading into the fourth quarter. Chase County would take its first lead midway through the fourth and the lead would change four times before junior Tucker Groh hit a buzzer-beater to seal the win for the Bulldogs.
Groh led Chase County with 19 points and senior Pax Vogel added 14. Head Coach Cade Witte says no matter the deficit, his team never quit.
Osage City was led by senior Landon Boss with 34 points. Fellow senior Kaden Kirkpatrick ended the night with 10.
Chase County now improves to 8-1 while Osage City falls to 6-2.
