Lawmakers aren’t the only ones getting the 2023 legislative session off to a fast start.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly’s inauguration Monday touched on themes of hope and unity.
Kelly also urged residents, both in the Statehouse and out of it, to move ahead with “civility and kindness, even if we disagree.”

Tuesday is busy in the Statehouse. Governor Kelly will sign her first executive order of the session at 10 am. Topic details have not been announced. Republicans in the House and Senate will have a joint news conference at 10:30 am to announce the party’s legislative agenda for the session.
Governor Kelly’s State of the State Address is at 6:30 pm Wednesday. We will carry that address and the Republican response on 14 KVOE, 96.9 FM and KVOE.com.
