K-State Research and Extension is busy getting ready for three special information seminars or seminar series beginning soon.
Next week, Extension begins a four-part series on farmland leases. “The Power of Negotiation: Land Leasing Strategies for Midwestern Ag Women” focuses on the basics of land management, leasing and conservation for both landlords and tenants. All are encouraged to attend.
On KVOE’s Morning Show this week, Lyon County Extension ag agent Brian Rees said numerous topics will be discussed.
Meetings are planned in Emporia and Burlington on Jan. 18 and 25, as well as Feb. 1 and 8. Residents need to pre-register by Friday by going online to agmanager.info. Cost is $50.
Also, Extension is getting ready for its “Winning The Game Corn Marketing Wokshop” from 10 am to 3 pm Jan. 31 at the Bowyer Community Building. Focal points include grain marketing plans and pre-harvest marketing, with other emphasis points including use of corn production costs for price strategy targets and seasonal flexibility in planning.
Registration is $10 and needed by Jan. 27.
Pre-registration has already ended for Thursday’s Calving Time program starting at noon at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building. The program involves information on calving management, forage sampling and analysis and bull selection.
