COVID-19 cases in Lyon County were on the low side of a range of cases now in place for several months. Unfortunately, the weekly report included COVID-related deaths for the second straight week.
Lyon County Public Health announced 27 new cases between Jan. 4 and Wednesday. The agency also announced two new deaths, pushing the county’s pandemic total to 133. The revised death toll followed two deaths between Dec. 21 and Jan. 4. That was the first increase of Lyon County’s death toll since the Oct. 26 report.
Lyon County has recorded 12,042 cases since COVID-19 came to the county in March 2020. The weekly caseload has ranged between 20-70 since Sept. 21, with one outlier — 10 weekly cases reported Nov. 16. Cases have stayed under 100 per week since 116 were reported Feb. 2.
