The Salvation Army of Emporia is gearing up for a big move over the weekend and volunteers are needed.
The Salvation Army is relocating its food pantry from the basement of its headquarters at 327 Constitution to the former chapel on the upper level. Brian Shintaku of the Salvation Army says they have roughly 15 shelves full of food that needs to be moved over the course of the day.
Shintaku says they are making the move for several reasons, namely ease of access.
Additionally, Shintaku says the relocation will make the disbursing of donations a more “seamless” process.
The move is scheduled to take place from 9 am to 2 pm Saturday, however, Shintaku says it could take less time depending on the number of volunteers that step up. If you are interested in volunteering you can contact the Salvation Army by calling 620-342-3093 or message them on Facebook.
