The Emporia High basketball teams jumped back into Centennial League play Friday against Junction City.
The Lady Spartans used a 35-7 second half to defeat the Blue Jays, 56-24. Emporia High led 15-8 at the end of the first quarter and 21-17 at halftime.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey says they made adjustments after a tough first half.
Rebecca Snyder led Emporia High with 18 points.
The Emporia High girls are 10-0 on the season and 3-0 in Centennial League play. They travel to Manhattan on Tuesday.
The Emporia High boys had their three-game winning streak snapped in a 52-39 loss.
The Spartans had a 4-2 lead before Junction City closed the first quarter on a 12-0 run. Emporia High trailed by many 10 and pulled within three in the fourth quarter, but Junction City then went on a 9-0 run and never looked back.
Coach Lee Baldwin says they played well defensively, but couldn’t get any shots to fall against a quality Junction City team.
Jalyn King led Emporia High with 15 points.
The Emporia High boys are 8-2 on the season, and 2-1 in Centennial League. The Spartans open up play in the Ralph Miller Classic at 4:45 p.m. Thursday against Coffeyville.
