The Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas could see progress on at least two investment projects over the course of the next year.
That’s according to RDA President Chuck Scott who presented an update on the organization’s “project pipeline” during the RDA and Emporia Enterprizes’ first joint meeting Friday morning. According to Scott, there are currently more than 60 projects in that pipeline.
Scott says in order to capitalize on these projects, the RDA and local leadership would need to invest in additional land and infrastructure development. To be exact, Scott says a little over 350 acres would be necessary, but thankfully the RDA already has a large portion of that need covered.
Scott could not divulge full details, however, he says at least two projects are “very active” and could move forward over the course of the next 12 months.
Separately Friday morning, both the RDA and Enterprises welcomed three new board members. Emporia City Commissioner Becky Smith joined the RDA Board while Kim Parks and Jan Utech joined the Enterprises board.
The RDA will next convene in February for its monthly board meeting.
