Several Lyon County fire departments were involved in fighting a grass fire 20 miles north of Emporia on Saturday.
Fire developed near Roads 380 and M, about six miles north of Northern Heights High School and two miles south of the Lyon-Wabaunsee county line, around 5 pm. There is currently no official word on a cause or acreage burned.
Allen-Admire, Miller and Reading fire departments responded.
Wind gusts were at or above 25 mph for most of Saturday, including the time when the north Lyon County fire was underway. Conditions will be mild, dry and breezy again Sunday and Monday, setting the stage for very high fire danger across the entire KVOE listening area until winds die down Tuesday and precipitation chances increase Wednesday.
