Fire destroyed a west Emporia trailer home and damaged two others Monday night.
Emporia Fire was dispatched to 930 Graphic Arts Lot 52 after 7 pm. By the time crews arrived, Battalion Chief Eron Stienlage says the fire had spread.
Lot 52 was destroyed. Steinlage says fire spread to Lots 51 and 53, causing siding to melt at both units, and to some nearby trees. The firefighting effort was also hampered by a natural gas leak in a service line nearby, so firefighters had to wait until Kansas Gas shut off the line before they could start on putting out hot spots.
Nobody was hurt. The cause is currently undetermined. It took firefighters from Emporia, Allen-Admire, Hartford-Neosho Rapids and Olpe about four hours to put the fire out, investigate the scene and clear the area.
