The Bowyer Community Building will be receiving updated audio and video equipment following approval by Lyon County Commissioners Thursday morning.
Commissioners approved the purchase of updated equipment through Neal Nurnberg for just under $10,000 by a vote of 2-1. Lyon County Controller Dan Williams says the updated equipment will make the building’s system fully wireless, much like the system at the Anderson Building.
County Commissioner Ken Duft was the lone no-vote for the item saying that in his opinion the frequency with which the system has to be updated may not be the most cost-effective for the county.
He adds his vote was based on input he has received from community members in recent years.
Williams stated looking into alternate vendors may not be the most financially feasible option as changing vendors would likely mean a complete overhaul of the system in the future.
Separately Thursday, commissioners received a presentation from KWORC on insurance premiums and held seven executive sessions with no action taken. Commissioners will reconvene for their regular action meeting next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
