Sentencing is coming in late March for a Montana man accused of trying to use an SUV as a deadly weapon during an incident near Emporia last month.
Jacob Culver, age 39 of Great Falls, pleaded no contest to aggravated assault as part of a hearing this week. Other counts, including speeding, criminal damage, failure to stop at a wreck causing injury or damage and reckless driving, were all dismissed.
Charges followed an alleged hit-and-run incident on Interstate 35 near the Burlingame Road exit. Culver was eventually stopped in Coffey County between the Lebo and BETO Junction exits.
Sentencing is at 9 am March 31 before Judge Jeff Larson.
Separately, a man accused in Lyon County of drug distribution has reached a plea agreement.
Jordan M Johnson had been charged with single counts of distributing up to 450 grams of marijuana, along with psilocybin and paraphernalia possession following an incident in early December. Johnson pleaded no contest to an amended legal complaint involving single counts of possession for marijuana, psilocybin and paraphernalia.
Sentencing will be at 11 am March 22 before Judge Doug Jones.
