The City of Emporia has launched an official search for its next assistant city manager.
Applications are now being accepted for the role which includes supporting and advising assigned departments, direct development and implementation of city department goals, objectives, policies and priorities for assigned areas. The ideal candidate will be an engaged and trusted partner within the community who enjoys relationship building inside and outside of the organization that can manage operations of the functions they are tasked with overseeing.
Five years of experience in public administration, a master’s degree, or the equivalent of such, in public administration are required for the position. Those interested in applying for the role can send their resumes to Jo Lynne Herron by emailing Jherron@emporiaks.gov.
Residence in the Emporia city limits within one year of hire is required. The deadline for resumes is noon Feb. 14.
Preliminary interviews are scheduled for the week of Feb. 27 with finalists interviews scheduled for Mar. 17. For more information visit the city’s website EmporiaKS.gov.
The search for a new assistant city manager follows the departure of Lane Massey who served in the role for five years before leaving to take the role of City Administrator in Spring Hill this past August.
