The Emporia High boys basketball team fell 68-65 in double overtime to Parkview (Mo.) in the third-place game of the Ralph Miller Classic Saturday.
Emporia High started the game on a 7-0 run and led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter before Parkview took a 25-21 lead at halftime. The Spartans trailed 39-36 heading to the fourth and overcame a 9-point deficit to force overtime on a shot by Sheldon Stewart.
The two teams went to a second overtime tied at 61.
Coach Lee Baldwin says his team really wanted to end the tournament on a high note.
Jalyn King led Emporia High with 18 points. He was also named to the All-Tournament team.
The Emporia High boys are now 9-4 on the season. They’ll play at Manhattan on Tuesday.
