For one ESU alum, last Wednesday was a game-changing moment.
Kristine Becker, the recipient of the 2023 Milken Educator Award, was presented with the honor and achievement at a school assembly for Topeka’s Logan Elementary where she currently teaches fourth grade.
When Becker’s name was called to receive the award, she couldn’t believe what was happening.
Becker, who earned two degrees from Emporia State University, became the 11th ESU alumni to join the Milken Educators since the program started in 1987.
Being a Milken Educator, Becker will be granted an unrestricted $25,000 cash award as well as joining the Milken Educator Network, a group of over 2,900 educators nationwide.
Becker describes how she’s excited to open more opportunities with this in her near future.
