Leadership and volunteers of Abundant Harvest have been “busy” over the winter months.
According to Director Lee Alderman, the agency has been giving out a semi’s worth of food each month with right around 300 cooked meals served to community members each week. Alderman tells KVOE News that inflationary pressures have led to a high demand for food from local families and the agency has been doing well to help meet it.
Alderman credits the generosity of several local restaurants, grocery stores and other community partners for helping keep the community fed.
That being said, Alderman tells KVOE News they are always looking to expand their partnerships both in the Emporia and area communities.
Abundant Harvest holds food giveaways daily from 5 am to 7:30 am. If there is remaining food, the agency will have a second giveaway at 8:30 am.
Cooked meals are available for pickup Mondays and Wednesdays beginning at 4 pm. For more information or if you would like to partner with Abundant Harvest contact them by calling 620-342-7439 or visit them at 1028 Whittier in Emporia.
