The Emporia High girls basketball team resumes its schedule with the Glacier’s Edge Tournament that begins Thursday.
Emporia High is the top seed with a 10-1 record and will take on Maize. The Eagles are 1-8 on the season.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey says the Lady Spartans are refocused after suffering their first loss of the season last week at Manhattan.
Junior Ryan Peak says the Lady Spartans have taken a step in the right direction heading into their home tournament.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Emporia High School. You can listen to the game on 14 KVOE AM/96.9 FM with coverage beginning around 6:45 p.m.
Other first-round games at the Glacier’s Edge Tournament. Prior to Emporia High and Maize, at 5:30 p.m. in the main gym, Wichita Heights takes on Blue Valley Southwest. In the North gym at 5:30 p.m., Seaman takes on Shawnee Mission West. At 7 p.m., Derby takes on Shawnee Mission East.
Three of the eight teams in this year’s tournament are ranked in this week’s Kansas Basketball Coaches Association rankings. Seaman is the top-ranked team in Class 5A. Emporia High is fourth in 5A. Derby is ranked fourth in Class 6A.
