The Emporia State basketball teams picked up wins over Northeastern State Wednesday night.
The Emporia State women ended an 8-game losing skid with a 72-53 win over Northeastern State. The Lady Hornets outscored the Riverhawks 33-21 in the second half to seal the win. Coach Toby Wynn said one of the keys to the win was outscoring Northeastern 44-24 in the paint.
Tre’Zure Jobe scored 22 points to help lead Emporia State to the win. Faith Paramore also scored 22 points.
Victoria Price added 14 points to the win.
The Emporia State women are now 10-10 for the season and 5-9 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State men rallied for a 69-60 win over Northeastern. The Hornets trailed for over 27 minutes of the game. They used a 18-9 run to close out the game for the win. Coach Craig Doty called it a gritty win.
Owen Long scored a season-high 34 points to lead Emporia State in scoring.
Alijah Comithier added 15 points for the win.
The Emporia State men improve to 16-4 for the season and 10-4 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State women and men host Rogers State Sunday afternoon.
