A pair of informational meetings kept Lyon County Commissioners busy through the day Wednesday.
Commissioners began their morning with a tour of Emporia State University, specifically some of the newest additions to the campus such as the Kossover Tennis Complex and Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center. The Lyon County Commission is a longtime supporter of ESU, making financial contributions each year.
Commission Chairman Rollie Martin says opportunities like Wednesday are important to ensure county tax dollars are having the intended impact on the local community.
ESU Foundation President Shane Shively agrees with Martin’s statement and says the university’s biggest role is in helping create the next generation of workforce for the local area and region. He says the opportunity to for ESU to showcase its work to local governing entities is extremely beneficial for both.
Commissioners concluded their day by reconvening at the Lyon County Courthouse commission chambers for a study meeting. The meeting consisted of a number of executive sessions for non-elected personnel matters with no action taken.
Commissioners will reconvene for their weekly action meeting Thursday morning at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse.
