Water service has been restored following an early morning water main break in a portion of west Emporia.
The break was reported just before 8 am Thursday morning on Stanton Street. Repairs were completed just before 2 pm, however, the exact size of the line and the cause of the break have not been divulged.
Customers along Stanton between 12th and 15th were without water for roughly four and a half hours as crews worked to fix the line.

Water service is offline between Flinthills Mall on the north side and the Lyon County Fairgrounds on the south.
Emporia’s Underground Utilities Department has been working to fix a water line break in the 1300 block of Stanton since shortly after 8 am. Shortly before 11 am, the city announced a broader shutdown of service affecting residents and businesses along Stanton between 12th and 15th.
It’s unclear when water service will be fully restored to this area.
8 am Thursday: Water main break reported in west Emporia
Water pressure will likely be low for residents in a west Emporia neighborhood for part of Thursday.
The city has announced a water main break in the 1300 block of Stanton, between the Lyon County Fairgrounds and Flinthills Mall. The Underground Utilities Department may work for several hours to find the leak, make repairs and install an initial round of fill material for the concrete cutout area.
A repair timetable is currently pending.
