Descendants and supporters of the Welsh community are already preparing the 135th concert and celebration activities for St. David’s day for the Emporia community to enjoy this upcoming March.
St. David’s Day is a feast day that celebrates the patron saint of Wales every March 1st and members affiliated and supporters of the Welsh community have been sharing this celebration in Emporia for years. Member and organizer of St. David’s Day Susan Atchinson says they are happy to bring the welsh culture and traditions to the community.
Activities start from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.Thursday, March 2, with a Welsh tea and cake gathering at Lebo United Methodist Church. From 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4 the choir will present their rehearsal and members of the community are welcome to join the choir or watch the rehearsal.
Activities will conclude with the 135th St. David’s concert starting at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5 at the Emporia Presbyterian Church west campus with a reception following the concert.
