Lynn Smith has announced her upcoming retirement as executive director of Pioneer Bluffs.
Smith tells KVOE News it’s the right time, with Pioneer Bluffs on steady ground. She became the facility’s first director and guided Pioneer Bluffs through renovation projects — including the signature white barn.
Smith oversaw an expanding event schedule, even through the COVID-19 pandemic. Smith also guided a boom in fundraising through Pioneer Bluffs’ ongoing association with the Emporia Community Foundation’s Match Day process.
The Pioneer Bluffs Board of Directors says it is looking for a leader with non-profit management experience, a background in ranching and organizational, leadership and interpersonal relationship skills. Smith sees things a bit differently.
An application is online at pioneerbluffs.org. The application deadline is March 20. Smith will stay on until a new director is hired and trained.
