Over 80 Walmart stores in Kansas, including the Emporia store, have recalled sausage products due to concerns about listeria contamination.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service says Daniele International LLC of Rhode Island recalled almost 53,000 pounds of sausage projects. The full list is online at KVOE.com:

*1-lb. plastic tray of “DEL DUCA SOPRESSATA, COPPA & GENOA SALAMI” with sell by dates 4/13/23 and 4/14/23.
*1-lb. plastic tray of “DEL DUCA CALABRESE, PROSCIUTTO & COPPA” with sell by date 5/6/23.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 54” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
Listeria was found during a routine inspection. Eating contaminated food can lead to listeriosis, which can affect elderly residents, newborns, people with compromised immune systems and pregnant women with fever, muscle aches, headaches, confudsion, loss of balance and even convulsions. So far, there have been no confirmed reports of illness.
