The Emporia High wrestling teams competed in the Centennial League Tournament hosted by Junction City Saturday.
The Lady Spartans finished in second place winning duals over Manhattan, 37-33, Topeka High, 64-12 and Junction City, 42-33. Emporia High lost to league champion Washburn Rural, 72-3.
Five Lady Spartans had second-place finishes. Ariana Estrada at 105 pounds, Karah Cooper at 110, Azia Obregon at 115, Iris Renteria Rivera at 130, and Kiana Flores-Delgado at 170.
Emporia High girls coach Shawn Russell was named the Centennial League Coach of the Year.
The Spartans finished third. Emporia High defeated Topeka High, 84-0 and Junction City, 54-24. The Spartans fell to league champion Manhattan 55-24 and Washburn Rural, 45-31.
Three Spartans won Centennial League championships. Xerarch Tungjaroenkul at 150, Davian White at 165 and Jesse Ultreras at 175.
Up next for the Lady Spartans and Spartans is regionals. The Lady Spartans will travel to Wichita Southeast for their Class 6-5A regional next Saturday. The Spartans will travel to Andover for their Class 5A regional Feb. 17-18.
