The Emporia State baseball team suffered their first loss of the season Saturday. Northern State walked off with a 9-6 win over the Hornets.
A 3-run home run in the bottom of the 9th lifted Northern State to the win.
Emporia State took the early lead on a Jake Bucovetsky solo home run in the 2nd inning.
Gibrian Pena hit his 3rd home run of the season a 2-run home run in the 5th inning giving the Hornets a 3-1 lead.
Emporia State had taken a 6-5 lead in the 8th scoring 2 runs on wild pitches.
The Hornets are now 1-1 to start the season. They will close out play in the Edmond First Pitch Classic Sunday with a game against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
