The Emporia State baseball team improved to 2-1 for the season with a 7-4 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State Sunday at the Edmond First pitch Classic.
Short Stop Andrew Rantz led off the game with a solo home run.
Third baseman Palmer Hutchinson added a solo home run in the 4th inning to give the Hornets a 7-0 lead.
Noah Geekie was the winning pitcher going 6 innings giving up no runs on 2 hits with 6 strikeouts and no walks.
The Hornets are scheduled to host Minot State Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Those games will be played at Rock Creek High School due to a new Turf infield being installed at Glennen Field.
