A vehicle was severely damaged but no injuries were reported following a fire in northern Lyon County Tuesday.
Lyon County Fire District 2, Reading and Miller crews were called to 17 Market Street in Admire for a combination brush and vehicle fire just before 4:10 pm. According to Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathan Rankin, the fire began as a brush fire that scorched less than two acres of grass.
The flames then spread to a nearby vehicle and encroached upon a structure in the area. The structure was untouched, however, the vehicle was significantly burnt with a full damage estimate still pending according to Rankin.
The admire fire followed a fire from earlier in the day in the 500 block of Road 200. Firefighters responded to 538 Road 200 around 2 pm after a controlled burn became out of control according to Emporia Fire Batallion Chief Eron Steinlage.
Two acres were scorched by the flames and the fire did approach a structure in the area, however, the owner extinguished the flames before it could cause any property damage.
No injuries were reported with either incident.

Local fire crews were kept busy by a pair of brush fires Tuesday afternoon.
Emporia Fire was called to 538 Road 200 around 2 pm after a controlled burn became out of control. According to Emporia Fire Batallion Chief Eron Steinlage, two acres were scorched by the flames and the fire did encroach on a structure in the area, however, the owner extinguished the flames before it could cause any property damage.
No injuries were reported.
