Work is beginning very soon on Emporia’s latest planned sanitary sewer improvement project.
The city’s contractor will shut down loop access for the two streets immediately west of South Arundel beginning Wednesday. The city says this will only affect the road connecting the loop streets, so both east and west sides of the loop will remain open to the public during this three- to four-week portion of the project.
Ultimately, the city will have a new 48-inch interceptor sewer along an unnamed tributary of the Cottonwood River from Arundel Street to about 1,100 feet west of the project’s initiation point. Construction may take until June, weather permitting.
