Lyon County’s weekly COVID-19 traffic was virtually identical to the report from a week ago.
Lyon County Public Health announced 45 new cases Wednesday, slightly more than the 42 announced Feb. 1 and still in the weekly range of 20-70 new cases in place since September. Deaths remain flat at 134.
Lyon and most surrounding counties are now experiencing a low level of community spread, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Greenwood and Morris counties, the exceptions, are dealing with medium spread.
As far as flu traffic, the Kansas Syndromic Surveillance Program — which uses a statewide percentage of hospital emergency department or urgent care visits — has not been updated since late January. At that time, less than one percent of all statewide emergency hospital trips were connected to the flu.
