A portion of Americus Road will be closed in April to accommodate the 2023 Flint Hills Gravel Ride.
Thursday morning, Lyon County Commissioners approved a request from the City of Americus to close Road 240 (Locust Street) from Main Street east to Fifth from 6 pm Friday, Apr. 7 to 10 pm Saturday, Apr. 8 for the event. Additionally, commissioners approved a request from Lyon County Clerk Tammy Vopat to pay $7,100 to the Kansas Secretary of State for the annual ELVIS cost.
Lyon County Appraiser Ryan Janzen also sought approval to attend the 2023 GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, Apr. 3-6 for an amount not to exceed $800. Commissioners approved the request 3-0.
Commissioners also held four executive sessions, three for non-elected personnel and one for legal matters, with no action taken. Commissioners will reconvene for their weekly action meeting next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
