An unsettled weather picture is ahead across the KVOE listening area.
After an unseasonably mild day Monday with highs in the low 60s, abundant sunshine and light breezes, rain becomes likely before sunrise Tuesday morning and there could be some embedded thunderstorms. Highs will be in the 50s, with up to half an inch of rainfall expected areawide.
Wednesday will have a lot of sunshine, but a powerful winter storm will affect the area Wednesday night into Thursday, with a mix of rain, snow and sleet all possible Wednesday night and light snow early Thursday. Currently, snowfall accumulations look to be under two inches, with heavier totals north and west of the area. Travel issues are expected early Thursday as the wintry mix and snowfall combine with blustery north winds.
