Emporia city commissioners are going with an action meeting and no study session Wednesday.
Commissioners could approve a supplemental agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation for ongoing road improvements on West 18th and Lyon County Road 180 as part of infrastructure enhancements near Evergy’s new regional service center. Commissioners could also approve an update to city code — as requested by staff and members of the city’s Human Relations Commission — to reflect a 2020 US Supreme Court decision holding that sexual orientation and gender identity are protected classes under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
On the consent agenda, where several items can be handled with one vote, commissioners could set bid times and dates for the 2023 Hazardous Sidewalk Program and also for requests for qualifications dealing with projects at Emporia’s fire stations.
The meeting starts at 11 am at the Municipal Court Room.
