Emporia State University has several special activities planned this week to mark Founder’s Day.
The official celebration is Friday, starting at 11:30 am at the Memorial Union Webb Hall and including a buffet lunch, recognition of new and past Kellogg Society members and an announcement of the annual scholarship essay contest winners.
The actual anniversary of Emporia State’s first day of class is Wednesday, and the ESU Foundation has its second annual Day of Giving all day long, including challenges to match specific gifts.
Emporia State began classes in 1865 with 18 students. It now serves over 5,300 students on and off campus. University administrators will be on KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment at 8:20 am Thursday to talk more about Friday’s activities.
