One person was hurt and another was arrested after a crash in west Emporia on Friday morning.
The crash at West Sixth and Albert happened shortly before 9:30 am, drawing responses from Emporia Fire, Emporia Police and the Kansas Highway Patrol. Police Officer Lane Doty says a northbound flatbed truck on Albert was turning westbound after failing to stop and was hit by an eastbound car.
The car’s driver, Tammy Barrett, was taken to Newman Regional Health with unspecified injuries. The truck driver, William Phillips, was arrested after not having a driver’s license. Hometowns have not been announced.
Eastbound traffic on Sixth was diverted at Prairie for around an hour after the wreck.

One person was hurt when two vehicles collided in west Emporia on Friday morning.
The wreck was noted at Sixth and Albert shortly before 9:30 am. The person hurt was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment. Further details are pending through Emporia Police.
Eastbound traffic on Sixth was detoured at Prairie Street for about an hour after the crash.
