The Emporia State men’s basketball team outscored Lincoln 72-66 Saturday. The Hornets took an early lead and never trailed in the game but did have to hold off several runs by Lincoln.
Coach Craig Doty said a good start was key to the win.
Owen Long scored a game-high 32 points to lead Emporia State in scoring.
The Emporia State men improve to 20-6 for the season and 14-6 in the MIAA.
It was not a good day for the Emporia State women. Lincoln outscored the Lady Hornets 75-71. There were 10 ties and 9 lead changes. Emporia State had cut the deficit to 1 with a minute to play but could never take the lead.
Coach Toby Wynn said Lincoln was better.
Faith Paramore led Emporia State in scoring with 20 points. Victoria Price finished with 17 points and Tre’Zure Jobe added 14 points.
The Emporia State women fall to 13-13 for the season and 8-12 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State basketball teams will host Pittsburg State on Thursday.
