Emporia Police officers say one man was arrested following a short foot chase in Emporia on Saturday night.
Officers say the incident started with a reckless driver call after public reports of a driver speeding and tailgating after 10 pm. Officers say they observed a vehicle matching the alleged activity and were in the process of beginning a traffic stop in the 500 block of Albert when the driver left the vehicle and fled on foot. The suspect initially went eastbound and then northbound but was quickly captured. Officers deployed a Taser on the suspect, who was taken to the Lyon County Jail for confinement and was briefly checked by Emporia EMS after a reported fall.
Formal charges are pending. The suspect’s name has not been announced.
